Testimonial: Polly and Peter Howell

Dear Steve and Kathy,

I’m sorry I have ignored you since delivery of our BBQnique®.  I don’t know why, but my life always seems to be so hectic.  For the first time in too many years to remember, I didn’t send one Christmas card.  I always write a Christmas letter, wrote it this year but finished up only sending it to 3 or 4 friends (after Christmas) who contacted me wondering why they hadn’t heard from me.  Anyway, you are not really interested in that – I just need to make excuses for myself!!

I wanted to contact you only to tell you how much we are enjoying our BBQnique® and are still looking at incorporating them into the hotel.  We cook just about everything on it from chilli crabs, to lamb cutlets marinated in lemon and mint (to die for) to roast lamb and of course eggs and bacon.  We have even mastered cooking the toast on the grill at the same time which is far yummier than out of the toaster.  I have always been one for clean healthy food, so we embrace that even more now and probably eat more simply than previously but still innovatively.  It is Peter’s challenge to cook the entire meal on the BBQ which means dessert as well.  I saw a recipe the other day for caramelised pineapple and banana, cooked in a wok, so that looks like a start!

Whenever we have friends around, we totally show off and the look on their faces when we lift the centre lid off to expose the grill plate is worth seeing – they usually think it is a lazy susan.  Everybody raves about it after the event and we are doing our utmost to encourage sales for you.  Peter took the chairs with sides from the hotel and everyone thinks that they actually come with the table because they are such a perfect match.  Amazing!!

We have now abandoned our plans to build a big living room/kitchen and are going to update the kitchen we have (big time!!) and extend the verandah so we can have our table more accessible to the kitchen area and a central feature of our outdoor living.  Because I would use the outdoor cooking features 9 times out of the 10 times I actually cook a meal, and because we seem to spend more time outside than in, we have decided to create a more practical outdoor area.  I am guarded in that we have been very spoilt with such beautiful nights, but with an outdoor fire incorporated, Peter is convinced we will still be outdoors a lot even in winter. I guess we shall see.

Anyway, thank you again for looking after us and I can only hope that your venture is a resounding success.

Have a wonderful weekend.

With warm regards,

Polly Howell
